Through a partnership with the VCU School of Dentistry, dental and hygiene students rotate through three days per week, working with dentists from the area who volunteer their services. The arrangement allows for hands-on experience for the students, providing a learning lab along with the opportunity of seeing more patients in the six dental stations.
The Dental Clinic also has worked with the Head Start Program, allowing children from low-income families to be educated on dental hygiene, screened, and scheduled for procedures as needed.
Additionally, in working with the Gloucester-Mathews Free Clinic, qualified patients have been seen from that area, and dentists are recruited to volunteer.
